Leap at #eLA2018!

Sprawling across numerous hills, ridges and valleys with a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene, Kigali, Rwanda, played host to the 2018 eLearning Africa Conference(eLA), September 26 – 28, 2018.

The eLearning Africa is a unique event that is Africa’s largest conference and exhibition on technology-supported learning, training and skills development. It provides a network of experts, professionals and investors, committed to the future of education in Africa.

Participants were exposed to new learning technologies such as use of mobile phones in the health sector, use of instructional videos for learning, use of drones for communication and learning and possibilities of customizing learning management systems such as Moodle as per learner’s context (institution-based or country-based).

In line with the theme, a team from the University of Nairobi, ODeL campus, presented a paper titled, “Mobile Learning Adoption: End User Characteristics and Learning Contexts – Lessons from Community Health Training Project, Kenya.” This was based on use of Leap the mHealth platform to equip Community Health Workers in Kenya on community health using their basic mobile phones. The characteristics of the learners were highlighted and how they impacted the development of various learning activities and the roll out through the mobile phone.

The conference was graced by high level key note speakers from the public and private sector, in Africa and beyond!
