Only 5 years ago, it was difficult to think of the mobile phone as a training tool. However, with technology and innovation, things have changed for the better. It is with this back drop that Amref Health Africa hosted a side meeting focusing on mobile phone technology in Africa and training community health workers. This was during the annual, and final, Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meetings held in New York in late September 2016. Bob Collymore, CEO of Safaricom Limited and Dr. Cleopha Mailu, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Health, Kenya, led the conversation with partners such as Accenture, and other leading health organizations.
